Where we come from
Our History
Rising out of the ashes of TheDAO
Giveth was founded in 2016 by a group of altruistic whitehat hackers who believed crypto could be a force for good. They set out to build new ways for communities and nonprofits to raise funds openly, directly, and without middlemen.
Starting with traceable donations
Our first platform, Giveth TRACE, let donors follow their donations every step of the way. It proved that transparent, accountable giving was possible.
Launching the GIVeconomy
In December 2021 we launched the GIVeconomy: a token economy fueled by GIV that rewards people for giving, funded and governed by the community itself.
Building the future of giving
Today, Giveth hosts thousands of for-good projects and runs quadratic funding rounds that amplify community donations with matching funds. And there is always more on the way.
